The final MEDAL workshop on open science will take place on 15 April at 11:00 AM, this time focusing on citizen science and open educational resources.

Citizen science and open educational resources are two very important topics when it comes to making science accessible to the whole population. We will have talks and a discussion with experts Yvonne Kuiper (Donders CityLab), Marc van Oostendorp (Radboud University) and Monique Schoutsen (Radboud University Library).

We will start with a block on Open Education Resources, what they are, how to contribute to them, and why. Topics that will be discussed in this part are "Should researchers also take credit for regularly updating educational material?" and "Are the materials of students good enough to serve as an open education resource?"

The second block will be on citizen science, in which we will discuss themes such as "What is citizen science, and what's in it for the scientist?" and "How to involve the public in science, and engage scientists with the public?", and most importantly Yvonne will show us examples of successful citizen science projects, such as the Brain Museum in Nijmegen, and give advise on how to set up your own.

When? 15 April at 11:00 EE / 10:00 NL / 09:00 UK

Where? This is a partially hybrid event that will take place both online on Zoom and at the Max Planck Institute in the Netherlands. You will get the zoom link after registration.
