On October 5th Paul Trilsbeek will conduct the next MEDAL workshop, where he will tell us all about how to find and use online data repositories and corpora for linguistic research, focusing on The Language Archive.
Can't get enough of corpora after the MEDAL Summer School? In this workshop Paul Trilsbeek, research data manager and the head of the Language Archive at the MPI for Psycholinguistics, will tell us all about how to find and use online data repositories and corpora for linguistic research. You will learn how to navigate the wide world of online corpora and how to find the resources that you need.
The workshop will furthermore have a special focus on The Language Archive, one of the largest data repositories of language resources. It contains various types of materials, including:
The workshop will take about 2 hours in total. No previous knowledge is required. If you plan to attend the workshop in person, please bring a laptop.

Where? This is a hybrid event that will take place both online on Zoom and at the Max Planck Institute in Nijmegen in room 236.
About the lecturer:
Paul Trilsbeek is a research data manager and the head of the Language Archive at the Max PIanck institute for Psycholinguistics in Nijmegen. He studied Sonology at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague, after which he worked as a music technologist within the Music, Mind, Machine research group at Radboud University. In 2003 he started working at the MPI for Psycholinguistics.
