The University of Tartu museums, with their rich collections, offer discovery and excitement for visitors of all ages. During the spring holidays, you are welcome to visit the university’s museum, art museum, botanical garden, natural history museum and the library. The Times Higher Education World University Rankings (THE) results were published recently, in which the field of humanities and arts is once again the highest among university fields and the entire Baltic countries.

At its meeting on 2 December, the council of the University of Tartu Institute of Estonian and General Linguistics elected Associate Professor of General Linguistics Ann Veismann as the new head of the institute.

The University of Tartu was founded on 25 October 393 years ago. This year, the anniversary was marked by memorial ceremonies, a concert and other events.

From 13 October to 16 November, the university family and all others are invited to complete the orienteering course “160 years of making sense of weather observations”.

All in all, there are 16,052 students at the university.

Next academic year, the professorship of liberal arts will be held by poet, children’s author and prosaist Viivi Luik.
